ECHA Managing Director Interviewed by BBC Radio 4

ECHA MD, Graham Hill was in the spotlight again yesterday, as he featured on BBC Radio 4’s “You and Yours” Show.

It was part of a recent investigation by Radio 4, which looked into complaints received from consumers who had experienced bad smells after painting their homes with Valspar Paint.

As a result, ECHA Managing Director, Graham Hill, agreed to take part in a brief interview with the Radio Station, and discuss some of the potential causes he suspected may be behind the issues encountered; specifically in relation to the potential presence of bacteria.

Since the interview was aired yesterday, ECHA has received a significant number of enquiries on the issue, and would like to release the following statement in response:

“For anyone who may have been listening yesterday, we hope that you found Graham’s comments on the possible causes of bad odours in Valspar paint of interest.  We have taken a quite a few enquiries since then from members of the public.  ECHA Microbiology has extensive experience in investigating problems of microbial contamination in paints and other consumer products, but the company would like to reaffirm Graham’s comments that we have no specific data in relation to the Valspar issues, and therefore we can’t offer any specific technical advice to individual consumers.  However, if you are interested in having ECHA test paint samples on your behalf, we would be more than happy to provide a quotation.”

ECHA would also like to thank the Producers at BBC Radio 4 for inviting Graham to participate in the “You and Yours” show feature.
