For Swabs & Pipettes:

Whats the shelf life of the pipettes

The shelf life will be indicated by an expiry date printed on each pipettes individual wrap.  They will be supplied with at least 1 years shelf life remaining.

Once I open the pack of pipettes will they all then be un-sterile?

No, they are wrapped individually so that you only use those pipettes you remove from their individual peel pouches.

How much can i measure?

The pipette is graduated in 0.5ml graduations and has a total volume of 3ml so you can measure from 0.5ml to 3ml.

Are they easy to use?

They are very simple to use.

  1. Hold the bulb end of the pipette only, avoid touching the lower part of the pipette.
  2. Put the tip of the pipette into the liquid you wish to test.
  3. Press the bulb of the pipette to expel air.
  4. Slowly release the bulb until the fluid rises to the desired volume
  5. Transfer the fluid to the test kit, and press the bulb again to expel the fluid into the test kit.
Can I re-use it?

The pipettes are supplied sterile, once you use one it will no longer be sterile.  Therefore for testing for microbes the pipettes may only be used once.
