Lubricants, hydraulic oils and metalworking fluids can all be affected by microbial contamination. If this is not detected and treated at an early stage systems may eventually suffer from fouling, fluid spoilage, corrosion and equipment malfunction. This study investigates contamination and on-site microbiological tests which can monitor most engineering systems.
