Product FAQs
For Incubator
-
Can I use the Incubator to obtain a lower temperature than my ambient environment?
No, the Incubator is not cooled and can only maintain temperatures in the range of 25 – 45°C provided the ambient temperature does not exceed the set temperature.
-
Which microbial test kits are compatible with the Incubator?
The Incubator is compatible with several microbial test kits, including:
- MicrobMonitor®2 (up to 12 tests simultaneously)
- Dip Slides (up to 15 tests simultaneously)
- Sig Nitrite®/Sulphide® (up to 20 tests simultaneously)
- Other culture and enzyme-based tests.
-
Why is maintaining a consistent incubation temperature important?
Maintaining a consistent incubation temperature ensures that the growing microbes are provided with optimal conditions, leading to reliable test results in the shortest possible time. Low or fluctuating ambient temperatures can delay these results.
-
What are the temperature settings for the Incubator?
The Incubators range is designed to maintains a consistent temperature between 25-45°C but are supplied set at 25°C which is optimal for microbial growth-based tests (e.g. MicrobMonitor®2).
-
What power variants are available for the Incubator?
The Incubator is available in 230-240/110-115 volt, and 12v variants.
-
Is the Incubator easy to transport?
Yes, the Incubator is compact (310 X168 X155 mm) and lightweight, (1.1kg) making it easy to transport.
-
Does the Incubator have any special features?
The Incubator is fitted with a light-exclusive door, this ensures microbes are not killed by harmful UV light which they will not be exposed to in their normal environment.
The Incubator is NATO codified with NSN 6640-99-750-2331.
-
What is the incubator used for?
Many microbiological test kits are based on culture techniques (growing the microbes to vast numbers so they can be seen with the naked eye as colonies). To provide the microbes with optimum growing temperatures thermally controlled “Incubators” are recommended. Examples of culture tests include the MicrobMonitor®2 test and the range of SigTests®.
-
What is the size of the Incubator?
Internal chamber: 220 X 150 x 120 mm.
External dimensions: 310 X168 X155 mm.
Weight: 1.1 kg.
